The infernal bar code and the national ID
There has been much talk about privacy issues and the 2010 census that is now underway. Many like journalist Deevy Kidd have written about the invasion-of-privacy-questions that have been added for the first time this year. In fact most of the discussion has been regarding the lack of authority the ‘government’ has to ask more than the number of people living at any given residence. Of course privacy issues are indeed something to be concerned about, but who is really implementing the 2010 census and how they plan on using the information they are collecting should be our biggest concerns.
Some folks have reported they received their census questionnaires in the mail and other have said it was dropped off at the house or left on their door. Some received an insert and others did not. However all census requests have one thing in common: the infernal BAR CODE.
